![]() ![]() Yom Kippur means Day of Atonement, as the verse states, For on this day He will forgive you, to purify you, that you be cleansed from all your sins before Gd. The traditional belief is that God writes ones fate into the Book of Life on the Jewish New Yea r and worshipers have the ten day period between that day, known as Rosh Hashana, and Yom Kippur to atone for sins and pray for forgiveness. What: Yom Kippur fast day is the holiest day of the year, when we are closest to Gd and to the essence of our souls. ![]() This observance of Yom Kippur will be live-streamed through YouTube and Facebook outlets. Yom Kippur is considered the ideal time in the Jewish calendar to repent and start the new year cleansed of sin. The Great Awakening Assemblies around the country along with their Morehs will also participate in this gathering virtually through ZOOM. Great Awakening Assemblies will gather in person and will all be connected on Zoom on Monday, September 16 from 12pm to 6pm to observe this Holy Convocation. That will be the day of atonement for the remnant when they “look upon Him whom they have pierced,” repent of their sins, kept the Commandments, and receive Him as their Messiah (Zechariah 12:10 and Romans 11:1-6, 25-36). This day is commemorated with additional morning prayers, asking others for forgiveness, giving charity, performing the kapparot ritual, an extended afternoon prayer service, and two festive meals. Yom Kippur is observed on the 10th day of the Jewish month of Tishrei (Sept.
